Spanish new passenger car sales fell 0.3% year on year in January while sales of four-wheel drive vehicles fell 3.8%, according to trade association ANFAC.

January sales of 104,441 cars compared to 104,793 a year earlier.


This slippage came after two years of high growth. In 2004 January passenger car sales were 99,000 units, and in 2003, just over 90,000 units.


ANFAC said that the decrease is in line with a  slight deceleration in the market in the last few months of 2005.
