Ssangyong President & CEO Lee Yoo-il announced on 2 May that the company sold a total of 10,011 vehicles in April 2012, that is 4,004 in domestic sales and 6,007 in exports respectively.
The sales boost for the company is on the back of robust sales of the Actyon Sports and increased export sales of the Korando.
Ssangyong’s domestic sales also rose 5.8% compared to the previous month, surpassing the 4,000 sales mark again in 13 months since March 2011 (4,677 vehicles). The growth may be attributed to strong sales of the Actyon Sports, which has received a positive response from the market since its launch, and the 2013 Chairman H&W, which was unveiled on 9 April.
Ssangyong’s exports grew by 8.1% compared to the previous month, recovering the 6,000 sales mark again since November 2011. It was made possible thanks to increased sales of the Korando by launching a low carbon dioxide emission and gasoline version in global markets.
Ssangyong is currently pushing forward an aggressive global sales strategy by launching the Chairman W 2.8 model, a new luxury sedan tailored for the Chinese market, at the Beijing Motor Show, entering the South African market through the Mahindra Group’s sales network and exporting CKD versions of the Rexton to India.
Lee Yoo-il, CEO of Ssangyong said, “Ssangyong is keeping up its sales growth for the fourth straight month along with more than 10,000 vehicle sales in April.” Lee added, “We will continue to expand our sales through aggressive marketing activities in major global markets including Russia, China and India.”
