Thomas Urbach took up his new post as president and CEO Mercedes-Benz Korea, replacing Harald Behrend, this week.

The German national previously was head of Mercedes vans sales and marketing vans in Berlin, a role he held from 2006.

Urbach first joined Daimler in 1989 and was the Singapore-based sales chief for Mercedes-Benz cars and commercial vehicles for the south east Asia region from 2003.

The carmaker had a South Korean market share of 18.6% after selling 18,534 vehicles in 2011, second only in its segment to BMW, the Korea Herald reported.
