Automotive Newswire from BRG Townsend, Inc. reports Mercedes Benz will take advantage of sales and distribution networks already in place by allowing Hyundai Motor to sell Mercedes Benz large trucks and tractors in South Korea beginning this June.

The Mercedes Benz large trucks, 24 tons and over, will complement rather than compete with Hyundai products. The sales agreement is part of a commercial vehicle joint venture that Mercedes Benz parent company DaimlerChrysler struck with Hyundai to enhance sales for both groups.

Earlier this week, it emerged that Volvo Truck Korea aims to more than double its Korean truck sales this year to 1,000 units. In 2001, the truck market grew 11 percent to 7,942 units and is expected to see continued robust growth as the economy expands.
