Hyundai Motor affiliate Kia has revealed first ‘official’ images of a new flagship sedan – its first rear-drive model – to be launched during the first half of this year in its Korean domestic market.
The car had been known by its codename KH and will be called K9 in Korea with export market names and launch timings, to be announced later in 2012. It won’t be sold in Europe, however.
The K9, will complete Kia’s domestic market K series of sedans above the front-wheel drive K5 (Optima overseas including Europe) and K7 (Cadenza overseas but not sold in Europe).
The letter K refers to Kia, Korea and the Greek word Kratos – meaning powerful, domination and reign – and the English word Kinetic, meaning active and dynamic, according to the automaker.
