Kia Motors has released sketches and details of the 2006 four-door Rio entry-level sedan to be unveiled on January 11 at the North American International Motor Show in Detroit.
Completely redesigned, the new Rio will feature a longer wheelbase, a wider track and more horsepower than its predecessor, providing better handling, a smoother ride and improved levels of performance.
The new Rio is also said to be roomier than its predecessor, offering more front and back leg room and more overall comfort. The successor’s design is based upon the Sport concept shown at the Paris motor show last September.
The redesigned Rio will be sold in North America with a four cylinder 1.6-litre petrol engine with more torque and horsepower than its predecessor.
In Europe, three engines will be available – 1.4- and 1.6 litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. Other markets won’t get the diesel.
