Kia Motors’ global vehicle sales rose 22.7% in October compared with the same month a year ago.
The company sold 182,288 passenger cars recreational vehicles and commercial vehicles during the month recording increases in all regions. North American sales rose 36.8% to 35,687 unit, China increased 25% to 31,124 and Europe was up almost 6% to 33,832.
On its Korean home market Kia sold 43,147 vehicles, up 19.8%.
Cumulatively, through the first ten months of 2010, Kia’s global sales have increased by 29.4% year-on-year to reach 1,728,896 units.
The company’s best selling model in overseas markets in October was the C-segment Cerato (known as ‘Forte’ in some markets) with 34,829 units sold. The Sportage compact CUV and Sorento mid-size CUV followed with 20,635 and 16,517 units sold, respectively.
Senior Executive Vice President & COO of Kia Motors Corporation, Thomas Oh, said, he was encouraged by the sales growth in global markets. He added: “The challenge we are tackling is meeting the overwhelming demand for newly introduced models like the all-new Sportage and Optima.”
