Kia Motors Corporation CBU (completely built up) vehicle exports for January 2005 rose 115% year-on-year to 82,344 units.

Exports to the key market of Western Europe saw the largest percentage growth, with exports of 30,160 units for a year-on-year increase of 428%.

By region, exports to North America grew by 41% year-on-year in January, while exports to Asia Pacific experienced growth of 138%. Central and South America saw an increase of 152%.

Kia said this was mostly due to increased exports of the B-segment Rio and the Sorento SUV, which posted sales of 11,000 and 13,075, respectively, for the first month of 2005.

“As we begin this New Year, Kia Motors is once again showing to the world that we have the power to surprise. These latest export and global sales figures are further evidence that our recent remarkable growth amidst adverse market conditions is not a passing fancy, but rather a clear indication of Kia’s rapidly improving brand image in the eyes of customers around the world,” said COO Yong-Hwan Kim.
