Imports to South Korea rose 55% in March, according to data from the Korea Automobile Imports and Distributors Association  (KAIDA), quoted by MarketWatch.

Imported vehicle sales rose to 3,629 units, up from 2,345 units in March 2005.

The increase was attributed to the launch of new models. The growth in imports comes on the back of 10% growth in the domestic car market in March.

The most popular import brand was Lexus, followed by BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.

BMW’s 3-series was the best-selling model, with sales of 203 cars. In second place was the Lexus ES330 sedan and in third the Honda CR-V.
