Hyundai Motor has said it will officially launch its new Genesis luxury coupe in Korea in September.
Yonhap reported that Hyundai Motor has already begun selling the Genesis sedan in South Korea with a sales target of 35,000 vehicles this year. The carmaker plans to launch the model in the US next month.
“We plan to sell the Genesis coupe in September,” a Hyundai Motor executive told reporters on the sidelines of the Busan auto show. He declined to elaborate further.
Hyundai Motor also plans to expand its dealer network in the United States to 820 from the current 787 this year, the company has said.
With the new luxury Genesis car and brand, the company is hoping to raise its image away from relatively cheap and bland cars in the US marketplace.
