Hyundai Motor Co. has announced that it will consolidate its Korean R&D operations and build a new research & development centre at its head office complex in Yangjae-dong, southern Seoul, according to the Korea Herald.
Hyundai Motor plans to build up a three-storey annex into a 20-storey building to house the centre. Construction is scheduled to begin in April.
The report said that the company’s research staff, which is currently divided between the cities of Namyang and Asan, will work together at the new centre. The company also plans to recruit 1,000 to 2,000 new R&D personnel.
“Having all our research faculty in one place will boost efficiency and enhance our R&D potential,” said a company official.
