March sales by Hyundai Motor jumped over a third, thanks to new model launches and strong shipments from plants in China and India.
Hyundai sold 317,973 vehicles last month, up 36% year on year and 27% higher than February, Reuters reported. Overseas sales totalled 258,698 versus 185,260 the previous year.
Affiliate Kia Motors sold 173,095 units in March, up 55% year on year.
GM Daewoo Automotive and Technology March sales were 62,646 compared with 44,541 in 2009. Overseas sales totalled 53,212 (38,833 a year ago).
Ssangyong Motor March sales more than doubled last month to 5,724 from 2,458 in 2009. Overseas sales were 3,169 versus 339 a year ago.
Ssangyong said rising demand from Latin America and resumed exports to Russia would continue to increase its overseas shipments this year.
