Hyundai-Kia saw record sales in China in January, the firm has said.
It said January sales of Hyundai Motor’s Chinese subsidiary Beijing Hyundai Motor rose 35% from a year before to come in at 42,790 units, while those of Kia Motors’ Chinese unit Dongfeng Yueda Kia Motors increased 15% to 17,607 units.
The group attributed the rise to a seasonal demand increase for the lunar New Year’s holidays, China’s biggest festive occasion, as well as its quick response to market changes following the Chinese government’s tax cut last month for vehicles with engine displacement of less than 1.6 litre.
