Hyundai Motor said its Indian operation’s sales and production rose above 600,000 in 2010 for the first time since its first plant began output in 1998.

Hyundai Motor India had initial annual production capacity of 300,000 units but that had since doubled with an additional plant, the Korea Herald noted.

Indian sales last year increased for the 12th consecutive year helped by the subcompact i10.

HMI was also the subcontinent’s largest car exported, having shipped over 247,000 vehicles to 120 countries.
