Hyundai Motor is planning to debut a highway assist advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) in its vehicles as early as this year as part of a strategy to gradually introduce autonomous driving technologies.
The Korea Herald reported that Hyundai Motor has said that it is pushing to commercialise autonomous driving “in phases” from 2020.

The Hyundai highway driver assist system is designed to keep a vehicle within a lane, maintain a safe distance from the car ahead, and provide a navigation-connected system that gives warnings of maximum and minimum speeds on highway sections.
The report said it would be introduced to a new version of the high-end Equus to be launched in the second half of the year.
In a demonstration held near Seoul, Hyundai Motor also unveiled its traffic jam assist system that helps the driver through congested traffic.
“We aim to provide partially automated driving in 2015, highly automated driving in 2020 and fully automated driving in 2030,” a senior Hyundai Motor official said during the event, according to the Yonhap news agency.
