GM Daewoo Auto & Technology will extend the suspension of production at some of its plants further into January as an effort to control inventory levels.

The South Korean unit of General Motors had hoped to resume production at its Bupyeong No 2 plant and two assembly lines of the Changwon plant on 5 January.

But local press reports quoted company officials today saying that the company would extend the suspension at Bupyeong No 2 to 9 January and the two Changwon lines to 23 January.

However, the official noted that production of the Matiz at Changwon would resume on 5 January. The company’s Bupyong No 1 plant and the Gunsan plant will also resume operations that day as planned.
