Compared to last year, June CBU (completely built unit) exports climbed from 48,428 to 70,572 units, an increase of 46% and surpassing the 70,000-unit monthly export mark for the first time. Total June CBU retail sales rose from 48,192 units in 2003 to a record breaking 63,272 units in 2004, an increase of 31%.

Year-to-date retail CBU sales reached 309,247 units, a 17% increase over the 264,881 units sold during the first six months of 2003, while cumulative annual CBU exports in 2004 reached 355,300 units, a 39% rise over the 255,055 units sold during the same period last year.

Individual regions also experienced a record breaking June, with the US setting a new monthly sales mark, Africa/Middle East and China setting new monthly export highs, and Western Europe and Asia Pacific eclipsing past sales and export figures.

These numbers reflect the growing popularity of Kia cars around the world – Kia is currently the fastest growing brand in many markets including Britain, Europe, Australia and China, a key strategic market of the future.
