Daewoo Motor Sales – the marketing arm of the carmaker – has reported H1 sales revenue of 1.81 trillion won (US$1.5 billion), 9.2% up on last year. Net profits amounted to 53.1 billion won in the period, 272.5% up on last year.

The company noted that its sales performance was driven by strong sales of new models, Kalos and the 2003 Rezzo (sold as Tacuma in many overseas markets). Sales of the Kalos supermini have totalled 10,272 units since its launch in May.

Profits were helped by restructuring measures. Daewoo Motor Sales laid off 12% of its workforce in February.
