The South Korean auto industry trade association, the Korea Automobile Manufactures
Association (KAMA), has reported a sharp increase in export shipments of Korean-made
cars to Japan. Shipments of Korean cars to Japan in the first two months this
year surpassed those made during the whole period of last year. The association
said that a total of 442 units of Korean-made passenger vehicles, were exported
to Japan in January and February, far more than the 340 units, exported throughout
last year.
The sharp increase was mainly of Hyundai models. Hyundai is boosting sales
in Japan and has undertaken extensive investment in a national sales network
