The Reinhardt Group, one of South Africa’s biggest Volvo truck operators, has placed an order for 287 Volvo FM 400hp truck tractors to go into operation in the company’s bulk material transportation business.
The order doubles Reinhardt Transport’s fleet size. Deliveries have commenced and will be completed in 2008, Volvo Trucks said.
Reinhardt Transport is based in Nigel, Johannesburg. The owner, Derick Reinhardt, has been operating in the bulk materials transportation business for more than 25 years.
“This is one of Volvo Trucks biggest operators in South Africa and one of our most important and influential customers. We are very happy to support the Reinhardt Group in their continued operational success”, says Anders Lindblad Managing Director for Volvo Trucks in South Africa.
All trucks now ordered are specified with the D13A diesel engine complete with the automatic I-shift gear changing system, and the Volvo Engine Brake (VEB). The order, of which 75 trucks are already in operation, doubles Reinhardt Transport’s fleet size. The balance of the 287 ordered units will be delivered in the months to come.
