Tata Motors has commissioned its new South African commercial vehicle assembly plant at Rosslyn near Pretoria.
The factory, which has capacity of 3,650 units vehicles a year, will assemble light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles ranging from four to 50 tonnes.
Tata Motors started exporting trucks and buses to South Africa in 1998 and cars in 2004. So far it has sold some 63,000 vehicles through 85 dealerships in the country.
