Pearl Automotive is to distribute Lotus cars in South Africa.

Pearl is already the distributor of MG, Rover and Bentley vehicles for South Africa and Land Rover for sub-Saharan markets.

“The Lotus brand compliments our “Best of British” stable perfectly” said Piet Rademeyer, executive director of Pearl Automotive. “We are very excited to be able to offer these superb sportscars to the South African market.”

Rademeyer said: “Our first allocation of cars are being shipped to us as we speak. These first Elise models will be available from the end of May and pricing will start at R375,000. The Exige model will complete the model line up later this year.”

Glen Moir, Lotus Cars general manager for international markets, said: “The South Africa market is important to us and we are pleased to have teamed up with such an enthusiastic and professional organisation.

“Looking to the future, we are expanding our lineup to include new products such as a mid engine supercar, introducing the marque to a new group of Lotus fans and driving enthusiasts.”

A R7.1 million investment by Pearl will see the establishment of a dealership, parts & service network.
