Renault is cutting 330 jobs at its Slovenian unit Revoz by the end of April because of a drop in European demand for the small city cars produced at the Novo Mesto plant.

A Revoz statement said that over the past few months it has seen a drop in orders caused by the strong crisis that has hit the European market.

It added: “Since there are no signs of recovery on the market, we are forced to take additional measures and to reduce our production by suspending the night shift starting 26 April.”

Revoz already cut staff last year by around 110 people to 2,350. In 2011 the factory produced 174,000 vehicles, mostly Twingo and Wind models.
