Visteon has started production at its new €40m plant in Nitra, Slovakia.
This plant is intended to become a base for the production of plastics components for interior and climate control products to supply car manufacturers located in eastern Europe.
The plant’s first customer is PSA Peugeot- Citroën’s Trnava plant, just 35 miles (45km) away. Visteon is currently supplying 207 door interiors from Nitra.
Later this year it should also start producing climate control parts for the Kia Accent.
Visteon is currently completing construction of a second plant in Slovakia, in Dubnica. This is a just-in-time facility dedicated exclusively to supply climate control components just-in-time to Kia. The plant should start full production by December 2006.
