“We’ve been in Singapore since 1993. A lot has changed in our Asia Pacific operations since then,” General Motors Asia Pacific director of communications Jay Cooney told the Associated Press (AP).

Cooney told AP GM will shift its regional operations headquarters to Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai or Melbourne in Australia – all four cities are crucial to GM’s business and a decision will be made by July.

“The decision has nothing to do with Singapore. The reality is the business model has changed,” Cooney told Associated Press, adding that a large part of GM’s Asian operations are now centred in the continent’s northeast.
