Nissan will launch sales under the Venucia brand made in China through its joint venture with Dongfeng Motor in the first half of next year.

Kimiyasu Nakamura, president of the joint venture company, added that a second model is also scheduled to be launched next year through Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle.

Nissan follows Honda which unveiled its first Linian brand model last year. Honda and its Chinese joint venture partner, Guangzhou Automobile, plan to launch a Linian subcompact sedan this year.

Yang Song, from the Dongfang Nissan sales department, said Venucia will have 100 dealers in 31 provinces and municipalities by the end of this year, with a plan to double the number of dealers by the end of 2012.

Nissan’s China sales rose 35.5% last year to 1.02m vehicles, surpassing sales of 908,570 vehicles in the US to become its largest market.
