Daimler’s supervisory board has named Britta Seeger a member of the board of management for Mercedes-Benz Cars marketing and sales effective on 1 January 2017. Seeger replaces Ola Källenius who will head group research and Mercedes-Benz cars development.

Seeger’s management board appointment runs to 31 December 2019.

In a statement, supervisory board chairman Manfred Bischoff said: “With Seeger, we are appointing an experienced executive who has successfully held leading positions in sales worldwide since 2013. With her qualifications in business administration and international experience, Seeger will further strengthen the position of Mercedes-Benz Cars with the premium brands Mercedes-Benz and Smart worldwide.”

Seeger currently is president & CEO of Mercedes-Benz Turkey, a post she’s held for a year. Previously, she was president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea for two years.

She joined Daimler in 1992 and has held numerous ‘internationally oriented’ positions in sales management since.

The supervisory board also extended the contract of Wilfried Porth as member of the board of management for human resources and director of labour relations, IT and Mercedes-Benz Vans for five years until 30 April 2022. Porth was named to the management board in 2009 and his current appointment would have ended in April 2017.

“In recent years, Porth has decisively influenced the human resources work at Daimler worldwide; he has prepared the area of human resources for the future and has made the jobs in the plants, especially the German ones, competitive for the future with the transformation plans. With the systematic internationalisation of the Mercedes-Benz Vans division, Porth has also utilised new growth potential,” added Bischoff.
