SEAT’s Arona SUV has been officially revealed to the media ahead of its public debut at the Frankfurt IAA in September.
The new model for the European B segment is the second vehicle from the brand to be based on the Volkswagen Group’s new MQB A0 architecture (Modularer Querbaukasten A0: Modular Transverse Matrix A Zero).

The 4,138mm long five-door SUV is closely related to the similarly sized Skoda Karoq, while the T-Cross, an equivalent for the Volkswagen brand, is due for release in 2018.
The Arona, SEAT’s first rival for the Opel/Vauxhall Mokka X, Peugeot 2008, Renault Captur and others in what the Spanish OEM terms the A0 class, can be thought of as an SUV version of the fifth generation Ibiza. Nonetheless, it is 79mm longer and 99mm taller than the new five-door hatchback. The boot’s capacity of 400 litres means the Arona has 108 litres more luggage capacity than the Ibiza.
Following its appearance at a media event in Barcelona on 26 June, the Arona will have its public debut at the Frankfurt IAA.
Production is due to get underway at Martorell in October: Line 1 at the Spanish plant has been adapted for the production of MQB A0 vehicles.
