Volkswagen’s sales in Russia through its official dealerships were 2,599 vehicles in January-March, up 54% on the same period in 2004, an official with the company’s Moscow office told Prime-Tass on Friday.
Of the total, the company sold 2,244 cars and 355 commercial vehicles in the first quarter.
The most popular VW car models on the Russian market in the quarter were the Pointer, with 833 cars sold, and the Touareg sport utility vehicle, with 572.
The most popular commercial vehicles were the Multivan and Transporter models.
In 2004, Volkswagen sold 8,866 vehicles in Russia. No comparisons were provided, Prime-Tass noted.
