Volkswagen may sign an investment agreement in late March to build its assembly plant in Russia, a source with the Economic Development and Trade Ministry told Prime-Tass.
Volkswagen plans to assemble its cars in the town of Stupino in Russia’s Moscow Region, a source close to the company earlier told the news agency. The assembly plant is expected to reach its planned production capacity of 250,000 cars per year in five years. Initially the plant is expected to manufacture Skoda Octavia car models but will eventually build Volkswagen Golfs as well.
