Toyota Motor Corporation plans to sell over 3,000 Lexus cars through its Russian dealership network in 2004, company president Tomoaki Nisitani said, according to the Prime-Tass news agency.
January-September sales of Lexus cars increased to 2,590 units from about 860 in the same period of 2003, Nisitani said. In 2005, the company expects to sell more than 5,000, he added.
Toyota has three Lexus dealers in Russia – two in Moscow and one in St. Petersburg, according to the report.
Toyota brand models sold in Russia include the Corolla, Camry, Land Cruiser and RAV4.
In 2003, the company sold 26,472 cars in Russia, up from 8,630 in 2002, Prime-Tass noted.
