Toyota Motor Corporation saw sales of its vehicles on the Russian market jump 30% in 2008, local reports quoted the company saying today.


Sales of the Japanese automaker in the market reached 189,965 vehicles a statement said.


According to the reports, the group’s best sellers in Russia were the Corolla, with 63,986 cars sold, as well as the Auris, Land Cruiser Prado, and Land Cruiser 200 models.


Meanwhile the Lexus brand sold some 14,796 units in 2008, Toyota Motor said without providing a comparison.


In November last year, Toyota said it expected that its sales in Russia in 2009 will fall below 2008 levels due to the ongoing impact of the global financial crisis.
