Tata Motors is ready to re-enter the Russian market, with both the Tata and Daewoo brands of trucks and buses, reports The Hindu Business Line. Eventually, the company is expected to sell its full range of trucks in the country.

“We are readying our plans to launch in Russia. We are starting with medium range trucks and Daewoo is launching the Novus (range of trucks),” said Ravi Pisharody, executive director and head, commercial vehicles business unit.

According to Pisharody, the company has signed distributors and the vehicles have been shipped. Although the company had entered Russia in 2008-09, the plans did not work due to the global financial crisis.

“In a way, it’s almost a fresh launch,” said Pisharody.

Meanwhile, following changes in duties in Africa, Tata Motors plans to establish plants in Nigeria and Kenya for assembling commercial vehicles for the African market. The units are likely to be completed in the second half of 2014-15, according to Pisharody.

The company has started an Indonesian subsidiary with plans to launch both passenger and commercial vehicles in the country.
