Russian automaker Sollers plans to buy the production rights for three Ssangyong SUV models, a local report said.
The SAIC-owned South Korean automaker is close to bankruptcy. According to Prime-Tass news agency, Sollers’s CEO and major shareholder Vadim Shvetsov told the Kommersant newspaper his firm wants the production rights for the Rexton II, Kyron, and Actyon models which it already assembles locally under licence.
But Sollers has not yet made an official offer to SsangYong, a spokesman told Kommersant.
