Russian automaker Severstal-Auto plans to begin official sales of Fiat cars in September, Severstal-Auto’s general director Vadim Shvetsov said on Tuesday.

Severstal-Auto, official distributor of Fiat in Russia, plans to sell the Grande Punto at a price starting from 420,000 rubles, Panda at 340,000 rubles, Croma at 840,000 rubles and Doblo – a passenger version of a small van at 365,000 rubles.
Severstal-Auto plans to spend a total $US12m to promote the Fiat brand, Shvetsov told Prime-Tass. It plans to sell 2,400 Fiat cars this year and 36,700 cars in 2007.
Shvetsov reiterated that Severstal-Auto planned to start production of Ducato vans in late 2007 at Severstal-Auto’s facilities in the town of Elabuga in Russia’s constituent republic of Tatarstan, under the agreement with Fiat.
It also plans to start assembling the Doblo vans and Albea cars by the end of the year under a license from Fiat at the company’s ZMA small vehicle plant.
