Severstal-Avto plans to sell 450 SsangYong-branded vehicles by the end of this year, Sergei Pavlenko, a Severstal-Avto official in charge of cooperation with SsangYong, reportedly told a news conference on Tuesday.
According to Prime-Tass, Severstal-Avto, a subsidiary of Severstal Group, is the official SsangYong Motor Company distributor in Russia.
Models sold by Severstal-Avto include Rexton SUVs, Musso Sports pickup trucks and Rodius minivans.
Severstal-Avto plans to increase the number of its SsangYong dealers to between 30 and 35 by the end of 2005 from two currently.
In December 2004, Severstal-Avto and SsangYong signed a licence agreement for the assembly of Rexton vehicles and the company plans to start production of SsangYong vehicles within a having requested government approval last month.
Severstal-Avto, also known as Severstal-Auto, was established in March 2002 and controls the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) and the Zavolzhsky Engine Plant (ZMZ), Prime-Tass noted.
