Car output by Rostov Region-based automaker Taganrog Automobile Plant, or TagAZ, decreased 2.8% year on year to 24,234 units in January-May, the regional office of the Federal Statistics Service said on Monday.
Established in 1997, TagAZ has produced Accent sedans under license from Hyundai Motors since May 2001 and Sonata sedans since April 2004. Its total annual production capacity is 120,000 vehicles.
TagAZ is the only automobile producer in the region and its production figures are reported as the total car output in the region.
In July, TagAZ produced 4,324 cars, down 13.6% on the year and up 1.1% on the month.
In January-July TagAZ’s total vehicle output increased 5.6% on the year to 29,429 units, the company said earlier.
In 2005, TagAZ’s output rose 41.5% on the year to 42,451 cars, while sales increased 77% on the year to 45,417 vehicles.
