Renault says it will halt production at its Avtoframos plant in Moscow for three weeks as the worsening economic situation in Russia takes its toll on the automotive industry.

“We confirm the plant [will be temporarily] closed because of the economic situation,” a reliable source in France told just-auto.

“It close [s] beetween 16 February and 6 March.”

It appears due to Russian legislation, staff at the factory will be paid two-thirds of their salary during the temporary shut-down.

Further details are expected later.
