Russia has posted January sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles up 1.8%, adding to the optimism of the previous month, which saw volume rise 2.3%.
The January, 2020 market increase saw sales rise by 1,799 units to 102,102 cars, according to the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee (AEB AMC).
«Not too bad a start into the new year, the ongoing expectations for which have been rather pessimistic,” said AEB AMC chairman, Joerg Schreiber.
“January sales volume is traditionally the smallest in the year, so we will have to wait and see where the trend goes in the stronger months of February and especially March.”
Monthly AEB data does not include sales figures from BMW, following the German manufacturer’s global decision to change the frequency of its sales data publication from a monthly to a quarterly basis.
The AEB plans to publish a quarterly sales report including BMW and Mini results on a regular basis, starting with the April release of 1st quarter market results in 2020.
