Russia’s car imports from countries outside the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) increased 47% year on year to 647,400 cars worth US$6.703bn in January-November 2005, the Federal Customs Service told Prime-Tass news agency on Friday.


Car imports from CIS countries in the same period rose 46.5% year on year to 50,200 units and were worth US$294 million.


Car exports totalled 117,100 vehicles in the period and were worth $561 million, including 32,600 cars worth $151.2 million sold to non-CIS countries.


126,000 cars worth $558.3 million were exported from Russia in 2004.
