Mitsubishi Motors sold 11,924 cars in Russia in January-March, up from 4,676 cars in the same period of 2004, the press service of Rolf Holding, Mitsubishi’s official dealer in Russia, told Prime-Tass.
The best-selling models in Q1 2005 were the Lancer, with 7,106 cars sold, and the Colt (1,154).
Dmitry Rotkin, general manager of Rolf Holding said last month that Mitsubishi Motors expects to sell about 50,000 cars in Russia this year, raising sales to 70,000 by 2010. This year the Japanese automaker plans to set up dealerships in 80 Russian cities with populations of more than 300,000 people, Rotkin added.
Mitsubishis sold on the Russian market include the Lancer and Colt cars, the Space Star minivan, the Pajero SUV and Outlander crossover.
In 2004 Mitsubishi Motors sold 30,097 cars in Russia, up 70.3% year on year.
