Brazilian bus-builder Marcopolo has announced a joint venture between its Argentine subsidiary, Ciferal Indústria de Ônibus and Ruspromavto.
The 50:50 venture will require a total investment of US$6.5m, and will aim to produce 200 intercity buses for the Russian market this year, and up to 1,000 units a year by 2009.
Marcopolo will supply the technology for the bodies, and initially supply components from Brazil. Ruspromauto will supply the chassis technology and the production equipment.
