Kamaz plans to launch its second assembly plant in Vietnam, Prime-Tass reported, citing Russia’s largest heavy truck manufacturer’s general director Sergei Kokogin.
Kamaz last autumn signed a license agreement with Vietnam National Coal Corporation (Vinacoal) for truck assembly at Vinacoal’s facilities. The vehicles will be assembled in Vietnam’s Chu Lai free economic zone and annual capacity is projected at 5,000 trucks.
Kokogin said Kamaz annual sales in Vietnam currently amount to 1,000 trucks.
Prime-Tass noted that, in November 2003 Kamaz signed an agreement for the creation of its first assembly plant in Vietnam which was launched in September 2004.
