Russia is looking to crack down on grey imports of replacement parts, which account for around 70% of imports, according to Prime –Tass news agency.
Currently Russia’s market for spare parts for foreign-made cars is estimated at $2.5 billion. Official importers account for around 20% of imports, while component manufacturers’ aftersales networks import around 8%.
In 2005 the Federal Customs Service carried out operations directed against illegal imports of mobile handsets and electronics and household appliances.
