General Motors expects to increase sales of Chevrolet cars in Russia to about 75,000 cars in 2005 from 60,000 in 2004, Andrei Glazkov, project manager for GM in the CIS, told the Prime-Tass news agency on Wednesday.
Glazkov had earlier said that GM plans to release four new [Daewoo designed and built] Chevrolet brand models in Russia in November.
The cars will be the Aveo selling from $US9,900, the Lacetti starting at $13,800, the Evanda at $21,000 and the Rezzo at $16,700, Glazkov said.
Glazkov told Prime-Tass that GM plans to sell 1,450 of these four models by the end of 2004 and also plans to release the three-door Aveo in Russia in February 2005.
The company plans to sell over 10,000 cars of the five new models in 2005, Glazkov said.
In January-September 2004 GM total sales in Russia through official dealerships totalled 8,488 cars, Prime-Tass noted. Sales last year totalled 8,339 cars.
