“We are not in talks with Chrysler and we have no intention to buy Chrysler,” GAZ spokesman Vladimir Torin told Itar-Tass.

He was responding to an earlier report by German weekly Focus that the Russian company was interested in acquiring Chrysler from DaimlerChrysler.

In April 2006, GAZ Group agreed to buy production assets from one of DaimlerChrysler’s US assembly plants to produce Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus sedans in Russia.

GAZ Group is one of Russia’s biggest automobile holdings with 18 automobile and engine plants.
