Dow Jones reports that Ford has started assembling the new Ford Focus car at its plant in the Russian city of Vsevolzhsk in the Leningrad Region, an official with the company told Prime-Tass Friday.


The starting price of the new model is U.S. $11,720, the official said.


Official sales of the new models are expected to start on July 1, the official added.


Investment in setting up assembly is expected to total $50 million, he said.


Ford Motor Company sold 8,619 vehicles in Russia through official dealerships in January-March, up 37.3% on last year.
