Ford has added a second shift at its Focus car plant at Vsevolozhsk, near St. Petersburg, to meet growing demand in Russia, Bloomberg News said.

The extra shift will double the work force at the plant to 1,100 by next month and raise annual production volumes, the company told the news agency.

Production may be increased to as many as 100,000 vehicles “depending on demand,” the report said, adding that Ford has invested $US150 million in the St. Petersburg plant, opened in July 2002.
