Sales of the smart fortwo commence in Russia next month.

Initially, dealers will offer the vehicles in Russia’s capital city Moscow. Further cities will follow in the course of the next 12 months. The Stuttgart-based brand believes that the compact two-seater, which requires the minimum road and parking space, has the potential to be a great success in Russia.

“The smart symbolises urban mobility better than any other car,” says Dr. Annette Winkler, Head of smart. “We’re looking forward to becoming a fixed part of city life in Moscow as well.” When the vehicle is introduced to the market in July, the smart fortwo will be available at the Moscow dealerships as 52-kW pure coupe and passion coupe models as well as a 62-kW passion coupe.

Following its introduction in Russia, smart will be represented in 46 markets worldwide. The main sales markets for the smart fortwo are Germany, Italy, and China. Since the first smart model left the production line in 1998, more than 1.3m units of the two-seater have been delivered to customers.
