AvtoVAZ’ sales slumped 17% year on year to 42,000 units in November, according to Kommersant business daily.

The carmaker attributed the decrease to a lower demand for classic Lada models whose sales fell 58% in October and 33% in January–November.

The company’s October sales were down 3%, the daily said. In January–November, AvtoVAZ sales totalled 535,200 cars, up 13% in a market which has grown 43%.

November’s decreased sales were on a similar level to the 2008 – 2009 economic crisis. In October 2008, the company’s sales fell 19% but the sales volumes were higher at 56,700 units.
